Documents
Spanish nationals can enter Morocco without a visa. They only need a passport valid for the whole stay. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Morocco. The maximum legally authorised stay is 3 months from entry.
Customs
If you bring your own vehicle, you must complete some simple customs formalities for temporary import; the document must be handed back when you leave.
The vehicle documents must be in order in the driver’s name and the vehicle must have international insurance, the “green card”.
Currency
The currency is the dirham. The approximate exchange rate is €1 = 11 DH. In Spain, Moroccan consulates have bank branches that change euros into dirhams. It is forbidden to import and/or export it. The easiest option is to change money at the Moroccan airport and, once travelling, at bank branches. Some hotels, and possibly some cities, accept credit cards.
Health
No vaccinations are compulsory to travel to Morocco. Pharmacies stock the same medicines as in Europe, although they are harder to find in areas with poor access to health services.
Time
Morocco is in the Greenwich time zone and does not change the clocks in spring and autumn. Compared with Spain, Morocco is 1 hour behind in winter and 2 hours behind in summer.
