Activities in Marrakech

Trip info

Place

Marrakech

Duration

2 h (city) or 3 h (Palm Grove)

Capacity

5 people per carriage

Description

Another lovely activity is a horse-drawn carriage ride, especially at sunset, when the light over Marrakech (the red city) is beautiful.

Please note that carriages do not enter the medina and its souks: rides always take place outside the medina. There are several routes; here are the 2 most popular.

Palm Grove carriage ride (3 h)

We cross modern Marrakech and its districts to reach the Palm Grove, home to more than 100,000 palm trees. Today it is an upmarket area of villas, hotels and golf courses. (Not included: you can stop for tea in a luxury hotel or take a camel ride if you wish.)

Marrakech route: Hivernage, Gueliz and the ramparts (2 h)

A ride through the new town, passing Gueliz, the “Ville Nouvelle” designed by the French on the European urban model, and the Hivernage with its luxury hotels, restaurants and casino, ending with a loop around the Jewish quarter, Jemaa el-Fna square and the medina ramparts.

Important

Carriage drivers are not guides and only drive; they do not speak Spanish and often not English either. If you would like an official guide, let us know. Each carriage seats 5 people.
