Trip plan

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga desert
At 8 am we pick you up at your hotel or riad and set off for the Merzouga desert across the Middle Atlas, a mountain range stretching 350 km from the south-west to the north-east of the country. On the way we pass Ifrane, known as the “Moroccan Switzerland” for the architecture of its houses, and Azrou, one of Morocco’s best-known Berber towns. We cross the Ziz Valley and Gorges and pass towns such as Midelt and Erfoud, from where a desert track leads to Merzouga. Night in a desert hotel. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 2: Merzouga desert
The second day is devoted to the most spectacular part of the Eastern Sahara. We head into the desert by 4x4, visit nomad villages and oases and ride across the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi. We also visit the famous village of Khamlia, home of the Gnawa, descendants of slaves brought from Africa, and enjoy their remarkable spiritual music. At sunset we return to the hotel to ride the dromedaries that slowly take us to the Berber camp in the heart of the dunes. Drums, stars… Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 3: Rissani – Ziz Valley – Middle Atlas – Fes
The last day begins with an unforgettable image: sunrise in the desert. Afterwards we ride the dromedaries back to the hotel for a shower. On the way back to Fes we pass the Tafilalet, Rissani (cradle of the Alaouite dynasty and former capital of the Alaouite sultans), Azrou and Ifrane. In the Azrou national park we stop in the cedar forest to watch — and even feed — its inhabitants, the Barbary macaques. Arrival in Fes and transfer to your hotel. End of our services.
