Trip plan

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga
We pick you up at your riad and head to Midelt via Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco for its Swiss-style buildings. We stop in the ancient cedar forest of Azrou to watch the macaques that live there, then continue through the Middle Atlas to Midelt. We follow the Ziz Valley and its gorges to Errachidia and reach Erfoud, famous for its fossils, then Rissani, where we can stop at the market. In the afternoon we reach Merzouga and ride dromedaries to sleep among the Erg Chebbi dunes. Drums, stars… Accommodation in a haima with dinner and breakfast.
Day 2: Merzouga – Khamlia – Taouz – Dakar Rally track to Ouzina
Watch the sunrise and have breakfast, then ride the dromedaries back to the hotel for a shower. We begin the great dune route through many desert villages, including Khamlia, where we stop to enjoy Gnawa music, and continue to Taouz, where the asphalt ends. We follow the famous Paris–Dakar Rally track to the Ouzina desert and have lunch with a Berber family, where you can get Berber designs in natural henna. In the afternoon we visit the village and its oasis before reaching the hotel. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 3: Ouzina desert – Jdaid – Taouz – Rissani – Alnif – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges
After breakfast we follow the Dakar Rally track to visit the nomads who live in the Sahara, then a Berber village with prehistoric rock carvings. We reach Taouz, where the asphalt begins, and drive on through Rissani and Alnif to the wonderful Todra Gorges and their impressive 300-metre vertical walls. In the afternoon we reach the Dades Gorges, where we stay overnight. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 4: Dades Gorges – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Tizi n’Tichka – Marrakech
After breakfast we head to Ouarzazate through the wonderful Valley of Roses, a spectacular landscape of oases and old kasbahs, many of them abandoned. In Ouarzazate, the city of cinema, you can visit the film studios. We then see the oldest ksar in Morocco, a World Heritage Site, Ait Ben Haddou, where films such as Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven were shot. We cross the High Atlas via a 2,260-metre mountain pass and reach Marrakech in the afternoon. Transfer to your riad.
