Trip plan

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Valley of Roses – Dades Valley
In the morning we leave Marrakech for southern Morocco, crossing the High Atlas mountains via the spectacular Tichka pass (2,260 m). Stops to admire the landscape and the Berber villages and to have a drink. Visit of the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, the best preserved in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where many films such as Gladiator were shot. We follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of Roses, where cosmetic products are made from this flower. We then reach the Dades Valley, where we spend the night. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga, Erg Chebbi desert
After breakfast we head to the Todra Gorges through the beautiful Tinghir palm grove. Todra is a unique place and a climbers’ paradise, with 300-metre vertical walls above the river. We continue towards Erfoud through the palm groves of Tinjdad and Touroug. Stop in Erfoud to visit a marble, fossil and mineral workshop. Then on to the impressive orange dunes of Erg Chebbi. We ride a dromedary to watch the sunset and spend the night in the heart of the dunes. Drums, stars… a unique and unforgettable night. Accommodation in a haima (Berber tent) with dinner and breakfast.
Day 3: Merzouga desert, Erg Chebbi – Khamlia
Get up early to watch the sunrise over the sea of dunes. Breakfast and back to the hotel by dromedary. After a shower, an excursion around the area: the village of Hassi Lbied and its palm grove, the village of Merzouga, a visit to the nomads, the mines and the village of Khamlia, whose population descends from slaves brought from Mali and Sudan. We enjoy their traditional spiritual music called Gnawa. Lunch of typical Berber pizza or a picnic. After lunch, back to the hotel and free time: relax, pool, dunes, quads… Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Tazarine – Draa Valley – Agdz – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast we leave for the Tafilalet palm grove via the town of Rissani (cradle of the Alaouite dynasty and former capital of the sultans). The landscape here, dotted with acacias, recalls the African savannah. We drive on to Alnif and the oases of Tazzarine and Nkob, then towards Ouarzazate through the sublime Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest river and its largest palm grove with the greatest variety of dates. We cross the Berber village of Agdz and the Ait Saoun pass (1,660 m), pass Ouarzazate, the city of cinema, and cross the High Atlas once more. Arrival in Marrakech at the end of the day and transfer to your riad.
