6-Day Tour Marrakech – Ouzina – Merzouga – Fes

Morning departure from Marrakech heading south across the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m). Stops to enjoy the scenery and the Berber villages and to have a drink. We take a detour to visit the village of Telouet, then continue to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the best preserved in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were shot. In the afternoon we reach Ouarzazate, the city of cinema. Riad accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

After breakfast we head to the Todra Gorges through the beautiful Tinghir palm grove. Todra is a unique place and a climbers’ paradise, with 300-metre vertical walls above the river. We pass through Erfoud and continue to Ouzina. Riad accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

A free day in the desert to enjoy its calm and visit the village of Ouzina and its surroundings. Quads are available if you wish; in the late afternoon, an excursion to watch the sunset among the Erg Ouzina dunes. At night, Berber music in the dunes under a sky lit by the stars and the moon. Accommodation in a haima with dinner and breakfast.

We get up early to climb the dunes and watch the most beautiful sunrise of the desert. After breakfast we drive to Merzouga along the Paris–Dakar Rally track, visiting Taouz and the village of Khamlia, whose inhabitants originally came from Mali and Sudan, to listen live to their spiritual African music called Gnawa. In the afternoon we reach Merzouga and its huge orange dunes. Night in a haima or in a hotel, as you prefer. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

In the morning, an excursion around the area: the village of Hassi Lbied and its palm grove, the village of Merzouga, the nomads, the mines and the village of Khamlia, whose population descends from slaves brought from Mali and Sudan, with its traditional spiritual music called Gnawa. Lunch of typical Berber pizza or a picnic in the desert. Back at the hotel, free time to relax, walk in the dunes, ride a quad or enjoy the pool… Hotel accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

After breakfast we set off for Fes. We pass Erfoud, the Ziz Valley and Errachidia, cross the Middle Atlas and the town of Midelt and reach Azrou, where we stop in the cedar forests to meet their inhabitants, the Barbary macaques. We also stop in Ifrane, the “Moroccan Switzerland”, and arrive in Fes in the afternoon. End of our services.
