7-Day Tour from Casablanca: Imperial Cities

Arrival at Casablanca airport and transfer to the hotel. Hotel accommodation with breakfast.

After breakfast, a visit of the city made famous by one of the best-known films in the world, Casablanca. A modern city full of life and the country’s industrial capital. Visit of the exterior of the Royal Palace with its huge gates, the elegant Anfa district and the Corniche, the boulevard along the sea, and the exterior of the famous, monumental Hassan II Mosque. Optionally, you can visit the interior of the majestic Hassan II Mosque (open only until 2 pm). Then we visit Rabat, the country’s political capital, and its monuments: the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower. We continue to the wonderful city of Meknes. After breakfast we visit the city, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1996 as an outstanding example of a 17th-century Maghreb capital, harmoniously blending Islamic and European design and planning. We then head to the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, the archaeological site that recalls Rome’s presence in this region. We continue to the wonderful city of Fes. After breakfast we visit Fes with a local guide. Time to haggle in the endless souks of Fes el-Bali, have a coffee on the terraces of the Ville Nouvelle, step into ancient Koranic schools and watch thousands of craftsmen practising trades long forgotten in Europe. In Fes you can live your own “Thousand and One Nights” story, in a world of fantasy far from everything we consider normal. Among djellabas, carpets and magic lamps, Fes offers a special and different adventure, with time to discover its marvellous medina. Riad accommodation with dinner and breakfast.

After breakfast we head to Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco for its Northern European-style buildings set in the mountains. We then reach Azrou and its wonderful forest of ancient cedars, where we can also see the Barbary macaques that live in these woods. We then continue towards Marrakech. (Option to discover the medina with a local guide.) A whole day to discover the most beautiful of Morocco’s imperial cities, the red city. Get lost in its medina, the true heart of the city, a maze of alleys full of surprises around every corner, and enjoy its unique blend of colours and sensations. We discover its most iconic monuments: the Koutoubia, twin of the Giralda in Seville, the Madrasa, the Bahia Palace, the Majorelle Gardens, the Saadian Tombs and much more. Strolling through Jemaa el-Fna square is a unique experience: all the life and activity of the south gathers here — dancers, storytellers, jugglers, craftsmen, merchants and snake charmers, mosques and minarets, palaces and gardens, souks and bazaars.
