Trip plan
Day 1: Tangier
Arrival in Tangier and transfer to the hotel, with breakfast.
Day 2: Tangier – Azrou
After breakfast we take the motorway to Azrou, with lunch on the way. Hotel accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 3: Azrou – Errachidia – Merzouga
After breakfast we visit the ancient cedar forests and their inhabitants, the macaques. We pass the beautiful Ziz Valley with incredible views of the palm grove before reaching the dunes. In the afternoon we enter the Erg Chebbi dunes. An intense day through all kinds of landscapes: plateaus, high mountains, deserts, valleys… Hotel accommodation in Merzouga with dinner and breakfast.
Day 4: Merzouga – Taouz – Ouzina
Morning departure for Ouzina along the famous Paris–Dakar Rally track. On the way we pass several Berber villages and share “Berber whisky” — mint tea — with the locals, discovering their culture and customs. In the afternoon we reach Ouzina and the Riad Porte du Sahara hotel, for a pleasant, quiet stay and a well-deserved rest. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 5: Ouzina – Jdaid – Ramlia – Ouzina
Breakfast and departure for the village of Jdaid. We then go into the mountains to see a mine where barite is extracted, a mineral used to make car glass. We continue to the Bourika oasis, considered the largest in the desert, with the biggest nomad settlement. They share their home (haima) and their way of life with us while offering mint tea as a sign of hospitality. We then follow the bed of an oued (a dry river of stones and sand) to the ruins of an old Portuguese settlement and on to Ramlia for lunch. After a well-deserved rest we head to Erg Ouzina and admire the mountain shaped like a tajine. Hotel accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 6: Ouzina
Breakfast and a relaxed day. We can explore the surroundings of Ouzina by 4x4 and enjoy its tracks… Lunch of a delicious Berber pizza, with the chance to get Berber henna designs and enjoy a good tea. In the afternoon, rest or discover the village and its surroundings and meet the locals. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 7: Ouzina – Ramlia – Lake Maider – Zagora
After breakfast we continue along the Paris–Dakar track towards Zagora, stopping to visit the ruins of an old Portuguese village and several Berber villages with mud-brick houses. In the afternoon we reach Zagora, known for its date production. Accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 8: Zagora – Draa Valley – Alnif – Todra Gorges
After breakfast we leave for Todra through the green, lush Draa Valley, the largest palm grove in Morocco. We stop at the viewpoint to photograph its beautiful landscape and continue along a wonderful mountain road to Tinghir. In the afternoon we reach and visit the Todra Gorges. Hotel accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Day 9: Todra – Rich – Meknes – Tangier
A direct drive back to Tangier. Accommodation with breakfast.
Day 10: Tangier
Transfer from the hotel to the airport and end of our services.
